The number of IPTV subscription in Spain rose 2.1 per cent to 6.8m in June, according to data compiled by CNMC, the Spanish regulator, although it was down slightly from the first quarter of this year.
IPTV remains the dominant distribution model, with 4.56m subscribers, compared with 1.3m for cable, 610,000 for satellite and 280,000 for primary network TV.
In terms of the overall telecommunications and audiovisual services market, retail sales in the second quarter fell slightly by 2.2 per cent compared with the same period last year. Retail services accounted for 6.215 billion euros in the second quarter.
Telefonica /Movistar, Orange and vodafone accounted for 76.3 per cent of all retail sales, down slightly year on year and quarter on quarter. Movistar’s market share was 42.7 per cent, compared with 17.3 per cent for Orange and 16.2 per cent for vodafone.
