Deutsche Telekom, part of Germany’s national telco, will expand its domestic IPTV platform to include entertainment via a virtual mobile video recorder.
From mid-september 2014, consumers will be able to watch recorded free iptv shows on their laptops, tablets or smartphones.
With the new feature to be integrated into the mobile service “on demand”, deutsche telekom claims to be the first carrier in Germany to offer live television, video on demand (VOD) and access to personal recordings on an integrated mobile platform.
Entertainment goes to include about 40 TV channels, including Das Erste, ZDF, RTL, sat.1, ProSieben and VOX and a VOD portal for movies and series. The service, which can be used in parallel on up to four devices, costs €6.95 a month, including 10 hours of recording cloud storage. At €4.95 a month, storage capacity can be increased by up to 20 hours, up to a factor of three.
